In construction, a building’s performance rests on a series of choices made from the design stage onward. The project for Duropac’s new headquarters clearly illustrates this.
This 60,000 sq. ft. building brings together administrative spaces, a showroom, and a distribution centre. Designed to meet high environmental standards, it features a green roof, a solar energy system, and a selection of materials consistent with the project’s goals.
It all rests on a clear vision: building durable infrastructure suited to the industry’s current challenges.
A high-performance envelope, designed to fit the project
In this approach, the choice of wall system plays a central role.
For this project, we used Isobloc, our insulated masonry block that makes it possible to build a complete wall in a single step.
Each block includes an interior architectural concrete finish, an R-25 insulating core with no thermal bridge, and an exterior architectural concrete finish. Together, this made it possible to quickly erect the complete envelope of this part of the building.
But beyond its performance, Isobloc fits into a broader way of thinking.
It doesn’t limit architectural choices. It adapts to the project and combines with other systems, according to the building’s needs.
Simpler execution on site
On site, this approach reduces the number of operations needed to build the envelope.
Fewer successive steps also mean less coordination between the various trades. This simplification helps keep schedules and costs under better control.
For this project, Construction Parox chose Isobloc for its speed of execution and cost control, while Duropac valued the architectural quality and consistency of the system.
